That’s right, you heard it here first. We are officially announcing our Sudbury Pin-Up Perfection Day Saturday March 27th at our studio. I will post all the juicy details about this spectacular event when I get back from WPPI Vegas next week. Until then, start thinking of your Pin-Up Perfection scenario and dig deep into your wardrobe for those forgotten outfits.

Just a heads up. There will only be 15 sessions available and it will be first come first serve. We have already had numerous emails and calls to book our sessions, but to be fair we asked them to wait until our Pin-up Day. So, with that said I would call and book your appointment as soon as I announce the Sudbury Pin-Up Perfection Day Details.

Hodgy Is Vegas Bound

Well this month kicks off a bunch of different speaking engagements, conventions and tradeshows. First up. WPPI (Wedding Portrait Photographers International) in Las Vegas. I am heading out Sunday morning and hooking up with all my NoBs Members Sunday afternoon and evening. This will be my 5th time at WPPI and every year is different. The last few years we had a booth for NoBs, but we discovered that we can network a lot more by just walking around the tradeshow and talking to all the other vendors and photographers. This is also where I discover new products for our studio (we are always looking out for our clients), and solidify our connections with our current vendors.

I will also be working with my good friend Andy Armstrong along with Mike Long in Andy’s www.getdesignhouse.com booth. Stop by the booth and hang out with us. When you get the three of us together, something crazy always goes down and in Vegas this time, it should be big.

TOMORROW IS OUR GIFT CARD GIVEAWAY

As we were cleaning out our studio office Joce came across a box with 104 $50 Gift Cards inside. Unfortunately we are no longer using these cards as they have our old logo on them. That and the fact that we have all NEW cards made up with our Studio Branding Colors and Style. But why throw them out? We paid money to have them created so we might as well do something with them right? So we thought we would pass on the savings to you (because we love you).

On March 4th, 2010 come into our studio and we will GIVE you one of these $50 Gift Cards FREE! We are giving all 104 cards away and it’s first come first serve.

Come into our studio at 2008 Lasale Blvd on Thursday March 4th between 11:00 am – 1:00 pm or 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm and we will hand you your $50 Gift Card. These cards can be used anytime until October 16th, 2010 and can be used for any future sessions and reprints. To be fair to everyone we are allowing one (1) card to be redeemed per family and stated above it will be first come first serve so try to get in on the earlier time slot. These cards are for new portrait sessions only (which can include baby sessions, maternity sessions, engagement sessions, signature pet sessions, or any other portrait session you can think of) and cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion.

More Maternity From A Sudbury Studio

Here are a few more images from a recent maternity. This is a very delicate time in a woman’s life and the key to capturing beautiful maternity images is trust. Your client HAS to feel comfortable. Not only in front of the camera, but in front of you as well. Joce and I have made this a huge priority in our studio, to take the time to get to know our clients, figure out exactly what they want as far as final images and product, and learn how they react to being in front of the camera. I love photographing this stage in a woman’s life. It is so elegant, beautiful, and rewarding (when you see the expressions on their faces when you show them the images). For you expecting mothers out there, don’t be afraid to call our studio and talk to Joce about our maternity sessions. We have a huge variety of products that you might not have thought about that can be beautifully displayed in your home. The second image below will be a 30 inch wall canvas in our studio.

Piper Pickle Picked A Photo

My Niece Piper came into the studio today while Mom, Dad & Brother were out to play. Like typical Piper style she gave me a whopping whole 10 minutes to photograph her before she had enough. Luckily with this one, you just can’t go wrong and yes I am being biased. The yellow hat and sweater were knitted by Piper’s Great Grandma so of course I had to photograph her in that. Then it was out with the Piper Pickle Purple background (I think that is what I am going to call it now) which I was aloud to photograph her for a whole 6.23 minutes. Oh my little sweetheart, Uncle Jamie is going to wear you down over the next few years.

Well Mark & Willie have their new website up and running for Ristorante Verdicchio and it looks snazzy. Check out their site (especially the food photography) and view their whole menu online. The prices are AMAZING for the high end quality food you receive and it tastes GOOOOOD! I know, because I got eat the product I shot. . Don’t wait for an Anniversary or a special occasion to visit this classy establishment because if you do, your missing out on some fine dinning NOW.

Mark (owner of Franks Delicatessen, the first Delicatessen in Sudbury) and I will be working on creating some unique artwork for his establishment. We have some cool ideas for the images and I will be acquiring the talents of my good friend Jason Landry to add some finishing touches to the posters. Production of this project will be starting next month and it will take a few months after that for completion, but I will be posting sneak peaks here and there of the shoots and images. Thanks again Mark for this opportunity. It’s always a pleasure to work with you and the rest of your Family! (not to mention eating in all your restaurants. )

Well I went and visited the SPCA and Pet Save yesterday and we are now officially offering all Adoptions a James Hodgins Photography Signature Pet Portrait Session for FREE. If your thinking of getting a pet, then why not save one? Last year Pet Save did over 1000 adoptions. WOW! If you do adopt from these two organizations you will get an exclusive offer from our Studio.

It seems that this year PPOC – Ontario is hosting their “Peoples Choice Awards” publicly online this year. Anyone can vote for any of the images and there are 4 of mine to choose from. You can only vote once so make it count. My personal opinion is I would like to see one of my clients images win, one that has faces of my clients. 2 of them where created for my own personal humor, and 2 were actual clients. Relaxed and recovered from Mexico

Well we just got back last night from our Anniversary trip to Mexico with our good friends Vince & Beth. You know, we never go wrong when we go to Mexico and this trip included. We stayed just in between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen in a small town called Puerto Merelos. This was convenient for us as we had quick access to both, including shopping and diving. We didn’t stray much from the resort except when Vince and I went diving which included some reefs, a wreck, a crazy ass drift dive and some fresh water caves (which was the best). Sorry I didn’t post at all during the trip like I usually do, but to be honest, I had no impulse to get on a computer while I was there, I just wanted to relax, and relax we did.

We stayed at the Excellence Riviera Cancun resort which really made a difference when the weather wasn’t sunny and I think we packed in as much activities as we possibly could including full contact Ping Pong. We were so tired by the end of the day that our usual bedtime was around 9:30, sometimes earlier and one time later, much later. Now my close friends should know that I do have my Canon G11 everywhere I go, and this great camera does take some good video, so my friends, beware….. you never know, just like Vince didn’t know he was caught on video during the Michael Jackson Thriller Dance – A – Thon. Here is my surveillance video

I did manage to get some underwater video and images during our diving excursions except for the drift dive that took us waaaaaaaaaaaaay off course do to the strength of the current. A few divers got sucked away and we spent all of the dive just swimming against the current to get back to the reef. Fortunately we all made it back, but unfortunately some divers couldn’t make the second dive because they exhausted themselves and had no energy left. Too bad to, because the dive after that was amazing with rays, sea turtles, lion fish, puffer fish and some great coral mounds. The last full day of our trip Vince and I headed just outside of Tulum for a fresh water cave dive. This was an amazing dive and it is very similar to Night Diving. Below is some video of our dives.

Well we are leaving today for Mexico for our 7th year Anniversary which is on February 13th. Since we got married in St. Lucia 7 years ago we try to get away every February to someplace warm & sunny. Looking back 7 years ago it really doesn’t seem that long. Joce and I had a beautiful wedding on the beach of St. Lucia with just the 2 of us, even though most of the staff (by that time knew us) took breaks or snuck away from work to watch our ceremony. We plan on going back to St. Lucia on our tenth, but I am sure we will get back there before that as well (right Kirk?) Anyways, this post is dedicated to my gorgeous, talented, caring, supportive wife and the best friend I could ever have. I LOVE YOU BABE!

This was the first time I took my camera ANYWHERE! These below images were taken
with a Canon D30 3.24 Megapixel Camera. Images were blown up to 30 inches for print competitions.
(back then glowing pinstripes were popular hahahaha)
