Live PSH Business Portrait Webinar.

Monday, April 11th, 2011

Well I just finished my first Live PSH (Photography School House) Ditto Cam presentation where I showed viewers how to create some professional Business Portraits.   I have been doing business portraits for years and I personally think I have my system dialed in.  Creating a professional business portrait should take no more than 5 minutes if you have everything setup and ready to go before the client steps foot in your studio.  A few minor adjustments should be all you need to fine tune the portrait once your client steps in front of the camera.  I would personally like to thank Brian & Natalie for taking the time out of their busy schedule and allowing me the chance to create an updated business portrait for their business.

Here are 2 images from the Webinar.

Low Key Sudbury Couples Portrait

Saturday, December 11th, 2010

Gilles & Amanda came into our studio not knowing what to expect.  Having being Amanda’s first time having her portrait taken she was a bit nervous on what to expect, but we quickly had them both at ease and next thing you know they were creating magic in front of my camera.  It’s great when you get a young fresh couple that are not shy to show their emotions in front of each other, or in front of Joce and I for that matter.  When couples can relax in the studio environment it makes the session that much more fun and enjoyable for them and us.   Keeping the clothing to darker tones and using a dark background really brings out the faces and features of our subjects.   Thank Gilles and Amanda for choosing Hodgins Photography to create your couples portrait.

Well Now THAT Was A KICKASS Day!!!

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

What a way to end our 2010 Wedding Season.  We kicked it off with a blast with Lynn & Ryan and their huge wedding party.  The weather was looking pretty meek for today as it was calling for a high of 6 degrees with rain and SNOW?  But I was prepared and performed the photographers sundance last night and it seemed to have paid off.  What is this photographers sundance you ask?  Well, if your a photographer, and you want great weather for your wedding, then just simple do this.  The night before the wedding, at exactly 7:17pm run around the outside of your house, 3 times, counter-clockwise, backwards.  Naked.  It works.  Anyways, back to today.  Lynn and the girls were troopers, 6 degrees out?  Bah, that’s nothing, and the guys didn’t complain one bit when we hit dynamic earth with the gusty winds.    If I could sum up this wedding in one word it would FUN!.    We were laughing all day, with the best one-liner Jocelyne ever said at a wedding “I’LL SHOW YOU A BACK ALLEY!”.  If we had liquid in our mouths it would have come out our noses.  We are sad and happy at the same time.  Sad that it’s our last wedding of the season, but happy that every one of our weddings this summer has been unique, fun and memorable.  Lynn & Ryan we want to thank the both of you and your bridal party, you were all AMAZING!  Even you douche.    We had laughs, we had rain, we had sun, we had McDonalds, we had Timmies and we even had the famous Bick Pickles Shoes make an appearance.    People are probably reading this wondering “what went on at this wedding”, well I can only tell you, you HAD to be there.

Thanks again everyone, you finished off our season with a BANG!!!  A big shout out to Barb Weir of Barb Weir Photography for coming from London to hang out and help us out.

Amanda & Karryna

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

It was that time of year again when Amanda & Karryna give us a call to do their “not so normal” family portrait.  They wanted something edgy compared to the last (which we did in a field off the highway somewhere) so we opted for downtown back alley graffiti.  Although the image below doesn’t show any back alley graffiti I think it’s a great location and pose to showcase a mother/daughter portrait.  More to come soon.

You are such a freakin COW!

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Well what else are you supposed to be huh?  Was going to do my daily blog post today from a session when I came across this image I snagged while we were on our way to the location.  There was just something about these cows and their positions that struck my fancy.  I snapped one image of the cow showing off her arse when she suddenly turned around to look at me and revealed her calf behind her.  I then quickly grabbed this second shot and we were on our way.

Sudbury Summer Family Portraits

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Well the weather is getting warmer, the ice is coming off the lakes and the yellow grass will soon be turning green.  Along with the mosquitoes and blackflies it’s also the starting of our outdoor family portrait sessions.  Joce and I LOVE creating beautiful family portraits, especially on location where we can all feel relaxed, comfortable and enjoy some summer fresh air.  Personally, and this is my opinion, but I think EVERY family should have up to date family portraits on the walls in their homes, offices, and cottages (anyplace where people can enjoy the image).

Your kids may be leaving for College or University, heck they might already be gone and the only family photo on the wall was from 1982.  Next time the whole family is back home together book a family portrait session so you can have these images to enjoy in between the visits.  A family portrait can mean more to the people involved than you probably realize.  It might not be today, tomorrow, or even next week, but when they get older,  looking back at that family portrait will bring back all the memories they had at that time of their life, and yours too.

It really doesn’t ‘cost that much!

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Here is another Pin-Up I am working on for Franks Deli.  Just having lunch there last week, we were surprised by how much food we received (especially the footlong hotdog) for the low amount it cost us.  Definitely  a jaw dropper.
