A Teddy Bear Portrait

Friday, November 26th, 2010

Well he’s not really a Teddy bear, but he sure was fluffy like one.  We just finished photographing Teddy’s SPCA portrait not 10 minutes ago here at the studio.  April adopted Teddy 3 weeks ago from the Sudbury SPCA (where Teddy has been vacationing for the past couple of days).  Even though Teddy is already 5 years April couldn’t resist those big bright eyes and that charming smile.  Thanks April for opening your heart and home to Teddy and thanks again for taking advantage of our Adopt A Pet Promotion.

Felix The Kitten

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Last week Sylvie brought in her kitten “Felix” to be photographed as part of our Adopt-A-Pet Program we have with the Local SPCA. Kittens are a lot harder to photograph than dogs (just read the post about our two cats here) but if you let them roam around for awhile and get their bearings you can get them to settle down enough to grab a few great images.  Thanks again Sylvie for taking advantage of the program, it’s just another way Joce and I get to say “thank you” to those who open their hearts and homes to unwanted pets.

THANK YOU FOR ADOPTING YOUR PET.

Click here CHECK OUT ARE RECENT ADOPT A PET BLOG POSTS

As noted on the 4×6 card you received we would like to show our support and appreciation of your new adoption.

Take the time and book your appointment,  the photo session will only take 15 minutes and you will have the perfect picture to show off to your family and friends.

We should tell you that this will not be your typical “Studio Pet Portrait”.  Nope, we are planning to create the best image of your pet showing his or her personality.  Sometimes we will get it in the first few frames, sometimes we may have to take 20, whatever it takes. We will be focusing on your pet and not so much as the backgrounds, props and colors.

“Hi James & Jocelyne, I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you from both Abby and I.  I wasn’t to sure how things were going to go today but it was fantastic…. You both were great with Abby and it showed.  She obviously felt right at home, so much so that she thought your sofa was for her :) .  Thanks for being so good with Abby and so kind towards us. Dog Day – The Results Are In.

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

We we are all tallied up, the results are in, and the studio is cleaned. :)   Dog Day (In our opinion) was a HUGE success.  First we would like to thank all the people who signed up for dog day to support the local SPCA.  We would also like to thank our “Dog Whisperer” Darla Laframboise for taking the time to spend the day with us at our studio to help out.  We had 26 dogs and not one accident woohooo.  In total we raised $1000 and 22 bags of dogfood (and 1 bag of cat food) for the Sudbury SPCA.  We would also like to thank those who took advantage of the Canvas Wall Portrait, we can’t wait to show you your finished art piece.

Joce and I had a total blast with this promotion and we look forward to photographing more furry friends in the future. You will notice a common “theme” to our dog portraits and this is one that we wanted to instill in our clients perception right from the beginning.  We focused on the dog’s personality and characteristics that are unique to the dog.  All images were black and white on a highkey background with a bit of an artistic processing to the finished image.  This is how we want to portray our Pet Portraits at Hodgins Photography…….this will be our “signature style” if you can call it that.

Over the next few weeks I will posting each dog from the Dog Day sessions so that you can all get a glimps of the Dog Day attendees.  Again, Joce and I would like thank EVERYONE who participated and for those that didn’t but still donated.

P.S  Joce and I have decided that we will offer anyone who adopts a Cat, Dog, Puppy, Kitten or any other animal from the Sudbury SPCA a FREE portrait session with print from our studio.  This will be an ongoing thing for as long as we can.

DOG DAY IS Saturday February 25th  (by appointment)

VIEWING day is Wednesday February 29th  (by appointment).

This studio day is dedicated to all our furry friends of the K9 world.  Even though Jocelyne and myself do not have a dog, we sure do love the fleabags.  Just as we love our cats, we know you LOVE your dogs.  So, “Dog Day” was created.  Not only are we doing this for you, but we are also doing this for the SPCA.  We want to give something back to them, so for each session we will donate $30 to the SPCA annnnnd you have to bring in a bag of Dry Dog Food, cat food or non clumping cat litter that we will also bring to the SPCA.

First we would like to thank all the people who signed up for dog day last year and helped  support the local SPCA.

We should tell you that this will not be your typical “Studio dog portrait day”.  Nope, we are planning to create the best image of your dog showing his or her personality.  Sometimes we will get it in the first few frames, sometimes we may have to take 20, whatever it takes.    We will be focusing on your dog and not so much as the backgrounds, props and colors.  As you can see by our samples your attention is drawn directly to the dog, and you know what that dog is like just by looking at them.

FIVE  Reasons Why You Should Trust Us With Your Dog’s Portrait

1. Your dogs portrait will be better than any snapshots you might already have.2. Because we know you love your dog.

3. Your dog wishes to help out with the SPCA

4. You will not find better prices for the best Dog Portrait

5. We know your dog wants this as your dog already emailed us telling us so.

Don’t disappoint your dog.

Here is an email we received from one of our recent clients.

“Hi James & Jocelyne, I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you from both Abby and I.  I wasn’t to sure how things were going to go today but it was fantastic…. DOG DAY IS Saturday February 25th  (by appointment)

VIEWING day is Wednesday February 29th (by appointment)

We realize that  not everyone can make it during regular hours so we are staying open until 7:00 PM JUST FOR YOU!  This gives us 20 sessions to shoot in one day (You need to book your appointment).  Sessions are approximately  20 minutes long, like we said earlier sometimes we can get those magic captures in the first 5 minutes, plus, your dogs might stress out, breathe heavy, tongues hanging out (which isn’t a bad thing) so we found 20 minutes is more than enough time.

We are keeping the original prices PLUS we have added some new goodies to the mix
which you will see at your viewing session.

We received this shortly after Abby’s session (I am serious)

“Dear Mr & Mrs Hodgins

I know my Mommy already emailed you to say thank you.

After seeing the results, I myself wanted to say to you a SUPER BIG THANKS for making me look like a Super Star.

James, you and I have to talk… the making fun of my ears thing “not cool” lol but that’s ok.

All in all my Mom keeps walking around telling everyone to go check out your website and is happier than can be and I myself am just thankful that I was lucky enough to be photographed by such a talented person.

I give you two paws up and a wagging tail.

With sincerity,

Abby”

“Dog Day”…Coming Soon.

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Some time in the new year we will be hosting “Dog Day” at our studio.  Hunter came in today for a trial run (and run he did) and although he was all over the place, we did manage to capture his personality in a few frames.  We love photographing dogs, and we understand that each dog has it’s own individual personality.  This is what we wan’t to capture, and so, “Dog Days” was created.  We will keep everyone posted on this upcoming event.  I know we will be trying to raise funds and food for the SPCA so this will be a good time to show your support AND get a great image of your dog.
