French River Family Portrait (Food Included)
Tuesday, September 13th, 2011Today’s blog post is coming from the home of the Roy Family. We just finished the Roy’s family portrait here on their property in French River. I’m a little tired after the session, so I am borrowing Vince’s Computer to write this blog post and share an image with you all. It’s a long drive back to Sudbury, and Joce and I have not eaten yet, so we bribed Vince and Heather to make us supper before we go. It all works out in our benefit of course.
I feel honored to photograph the Roy’s first family photo. We photographed their engagment and their wedding 4 years ago and now they have the beautiful Nessa (along with Roxy) to add to their family. Vince has also been tagging along to some of our weddings as he has started his own wedding videography company Royal Productions this past season.
Well, I smell the food cooking so I better get upstairs and see what’s going on, but first I need to format this harddrive, and I noticed Vince left his facebook account open. Oh people. You should know better.
Here is one quick one from just a few minutes ago.

Sudbury Family Portraits
Thursday, September 8th, 2011Lisa & Rob along with their two daughters came in recently to update their family portraits. We photographed Lisa & Rob’s wedding a few years ago, and since then we have created many wonderful portraits for them. I love have repeat clients and watching how their lives change (for the better) when they start building their future and family together. I will also say it again as I have said it before, sometimes the best photo opportunities are when your clients don’t even know you are taking their picture.

Just Let The Kids Play
Thursday, August 18th, 2011You have heard me say it before, sometimes the best images are when your subjects are not even looking at the camera. We just finished the “water” session with the family and kids were having some fun before the next shoot. I just love the faces of the two brothers as their sister takes control with the splashing.

Sudbury Families ROCK!!
Thursday, August 4th, 2011Most of you know that Joce and I LOVE photographing families, and our session tonight was no exception. It started out with everyone on the doc and ended up with everyone in the water. This session had “candid” written all over it and Tammy & Jason’s property on Long Lake was the perfect place to take advantage of multiple scenarios. It’s been a few years since their last Family Portrait (Take a Peak Here) and since then they have added a new addition to the family………….little Olivia. Joce and both commented on how much Joy this Angel has brought to this already happy family as it was evident throughout the entire session. I can’t wait to show you some of the candid images we created for this family. Tammy, Jason, Jake, Cale & Olivia, thank you so much for making this session seem like a day at the beach, because that was almost exactly what it turned out to be.
Here is the last shot from the first scenario. We changed it up from our original plan to make it more of a “story telling” image. It worked.

So much for posing!
Tuesday, December 14th, 2010When photographing families I love it when the kids are just ………… well………..kids. Sometimes when they have had enough they will let you know, and although the parents are more concerned on “getting the best portrait” they will quickly realize that sometimes the best portraits are the ones that you just can’t control.
Happy Birthday Dana!!

A Sudbury Family Portrait
Thursday, June 10th, 2010Joce and I just got back from photographing the wonderfully color coordinated Leroy Family. We scouted out a great location for this portrait and it just so happens to be a place that holds a lot of memories for the daughters which makes a family portrait like this more meaningful. Creating a family portrait for our clients is something that we like to put a lot of thought into, especially the clothing choices. No matter how great the poses are, the location is, or how big the smiles are, if the clothing is all over the place (stripes, patterns, different colors) it will distract from the most important element of the photograph. The family. Portraits like this are ment to be on the wall, to show off to your friends, and constantly look at while you walk by or into the room. It will be a conversation piece, a comforting memory, and a life’s accomplishment. When you have kids that have left the house, or are living far away from home, a family portrait is the perfect investment to keep them close to your heart.
Thanks Lorna, Amanda, Jennifer, Jordan, Carolyn, Mike and Emily, you have a fabulous family and it was a pleasure creating these images for you.
