Mother & Son. Sometimes Simple Is Better.

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Here is one from today’s session.  After photographing the whole family we did some  additional images of different groupings.  I framed this image in camera with the negative space to our left to draw your attention into my subjects.  Something so simple, with zero distractions, sometimes make the best portraits.   Even adding borders, brushes, overlays or anything else would distract from the connection mother and son have in this image.  The moment the shutter released I knew this was the image I wanted to share with you all.  As photographers, we tend to get distracted with new technology, new software  blah blah blah (I am included with these people) and focus more on the gimmicks than we actually do about “photography”.  As my title states “Sometimes Simple Is Better”.  Thanks again Tanya & Jeff for allowing us to photograph your family and latest addition, we look forward to creating more images of your full family this summer.

We love documenting the Maternity Stage

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Cherish & Clint came into the studio so that we could capture their soon to be bundle of joy.  We love photographing this stage in a couples life.  We are always looking for new ways to photograph this very important time in a woman’s life.  Documenting this always brings more closer to the clients we photograph, and just like this session we usually hang out afterwards and talk, and talk, and talk.  It’s a great experience to not only photograph people, but to get to know them as friends.  We look forward to the future sessions of this new family.

Family, Some Of My Family, & Hodgy Humor IV

Friday, October 30th, 2009

5:30 in the am and there is nothing that keeps me awake more than having one of our cats lick himself while sitting right beside my head.  When it’s this early in the morning everything is quite.  You know your house.  You know the sounds it makes.  So when your cat decides to move into the recroom and continue on with his innocent yet disgusting licking, you can still hear it, clear as day.  So, it’s early, I’m up and getting a fresh Cup ‘o’ Joe in my system.  I thought I would post a few family portraits we have done recently.  We love creating family portraits and it amazes me how long some families go without having an updated portrait.  Think of a family portrait as an investment in you and your family.  When you have a large wall portrait hanging in your house of your family, that is art.  Who would disagree with me on this?   Joce and I love the expressions on our clients faces when they come to pick up their Wall Portraits, you can tell that they know, at the moment they see it finished, that they made the right decision to invest in their family.

Now the person holding the camera laughing his butt off is my Bro-In-Law Mike (above).   2 weeks ago we portaged into our “secret” lake for some Bass & Pike fishing.  Some stupid beaver decided to damn up part of the “river” we normally paddle through so we had to carry our gear and canoe most of the way.  Lifting and pulling heavy objects through mud tends to wear you down.  You don’t think clearly, you try stupid things…..like seeing  just how stuck you can get in some Canadian Quicksand.  Now to my defense, this stuff was thick, but if you broke through, it swallowed your foot.  We only caught one fish. (of course, I was the one that caught it)

The cutest baby in the WORLD!!!

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Now we might be a bit biased because she is our niece but cmon….. look at her.  Those big blue eyes, puggy little cheeks, and yes, I think purple is her color.  We did get some great images last session of Piper, but at least this session she didn’t pee on our couch.   Today we photographed my sister and her family (the Lasci family), did some individuals of Piper so that our other family members will stop harassing my sister and me, and then we finished off the session with our nephew Mckeans new school picture (cuz of course, his “school” picture will probably be crappy). So I dedicate this post to be a  pure BRAG post about the worlds cutest baby.  Piper.

Trash The Dress

Friday, October 24th, 2008

WHY WEAR YOUR DRESS JUST ONCE?

Trash The Dress (or TTD) Definition:  Refers to photography that contrasts elegant clothing with an environment in which it is completely out of place. It is generally shot in the style of glossy beauty and glamor photography. It may also be done as an additional shoot after the wedding, almost as a declaration that the wedding is done and the dress will not be used again. It is seen as an alternative to storing the dress away, never to be seen again.

Like our wedding photography we are always pushing the limits with our TTD sessions.  Don’t settle for the “snapshot” photographer, you want your images to POP and you want your family and friends to go “WOW!”.

We like to use odd angles, funky lighting,  and creative post processing to make your images stand above the rest.  If you can think  of it, we can create it.   We want your session to be unique to you, so whatever you can think up?  We can do.

Trash the dress sessions are not limited to just brides either, if you have  a prom dress,
semi-formal dress or any dress that you just want to trash, give us a call.   We are game for anything.

Please Note: The dresses only get as dirty as you want them to be.  The above images were shot on location in a slag pit, river, lake, and in the bush and the dress only suffered a minor stain which came out with…..water. :)   Unfortunately the cricket we stepped on during the shoot did not survive.

A non-refundable retainer is required to hold any dates.

Children Gallery Sidebar

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

HEY PARENTS!

They grow up fast and you want to remember every little thing about them.

We take the time to capture the “personality” of your child.

In the studio or playing outside it’s your childs (and yours too) choice. No stiff poses and no rules to follow, let’s let your kid just have some plain ol fun.

We can also create a “Custom Wall Panel” from your session.

Sometimes it’s hard to pick your favorites when there are sooooo many good one’s to choose from.
