If you don’t bite your nails.

The atmosphere was so relaxing I was almost tempted to make an appointment and get MY nails done by a few Boreal Students.

Hodgy Humor – Pool Party With My G11

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Hanging out at my sisters pool yesterday for my niece’s birthday party watching my nephew jumping in and out of the pool when a simple image appeared in my head.  Wearing his goggles he reminded me of one of those bratty annoying kids that never shuts up or stops running around waving his arms all over the place.  Fortunately for our sake (and his) he is not like that, but he does take a pretty cool looking picture when he allows me to photograph him.  I only had my canon G11 but I did have a sunpack flash and pocket wizard in my trunk, so using one light source and overpowering the sun I came up with this quick shot.  For some reason, nobody else wanted to go swimming.

And your little dog too! || Sudbury Engagement

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

We just finished photographing the engagement of Sheri & Mark.  They will be married this June right here in Sudbury.  Mark and I have known each other for years, going to the same highschool, hanging around the same friends, and I casting a few lines in the water every once and awhile (he is another fish whisperer).  We photographed a in a great little spot in New Sudbury keeping things close to home.  I  know Mark is not one for photographs, but I have to give him credit as he was all smiles for this session, even though he seemed to sulk a bit because he didn’t get to hold the dog’s leash.  Speaking of which, their little Pomeranian Sly was also on hand for a few photo ops.  Thanks again Mark & Sheri, it was great catching up and talking shop….fish shop. :)

Received WPPI & PPOC Awards

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Finally had a chance to open some goodies that arrived for me last week.  The award on the left is from my 3rd place win at WPPI.  The award  in the middle is for “Best Group Portrait” from the Professional Photographers Of Canada – Ontario for the image “This is what happens to crappy print judges” and the one on the right is a “Judges Choice” Award for “The Big Catch”.  Both these images have been sent off for the National Print Competition next month in Mont Tremblant.  Entering Print competitions is very beneficial to any photographer and I will be speaking about this during my presentation in Chicago next week.  It helps us strive to create the best image possible EVERY TIME which is  beneficial to ourselves and our clients.   The judges look for such thins as Storytelling, Composition, Presentation and what I like to call the WOW Factor.  Having your images critiqued by your peers can  give you an eye opener to your photography (good or bad) but either way it’s a learning experience.

Heading to Chicago tomorrow afternoon for the Inferno Convention so see you next week. :)

Sudbury Shoe Girl Pin-Up Perfection

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Still going like gangbusters with our Sudbury Pin-Up Perfection.   Jacqueline (a fellow photographer) came into the studio today to create a variety of Pin-Up style images.  It is amazing what you might find in your closet that can be used to create these images. These types of images take a very long time to create but in the end it is worth it.  We are looking forward to creating more Pin-Ups especially for Frank’s Deli.  Jacqueline thanks again for making this session a blast.  I look forward to workflowing more images.

Well Mark & Willie have their new website up and running for Ristorante Verdicchio and it looks snazzy.  Check out their site (especially the food photography) and view their whole menu online.  The prices are AMAZING for the high end quality food you receive and it tastes GOOOOOD!  I know, because I got eat the product I shot. :) .  Don’t wait for an Anniversary or a special occasion to visit this classy establishment because if you do, your missing out on some fine dinning NOW.

Getting my fill of Fuller Industrial

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Just finished a day of shooting at Fuller industrial www.fullerindustrial.com for their upcoming website and information Brochures.  I just love the smell of Welding in the morning and of course it’s always cool to shoot anything that sparks (except when it lands in your hair ahm).  Tomorrow I am off to Sturgeon Falls for a shoot at their local hospital (sounds like fun doesn’t it) and then again at our own Laurentian Hospital.

When a dog leaves a nose smudge on your lens, you call in the brother to lick it off.
