Holding Hands Just Got Better!

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

Trying some different poses for babies lately and I’m really liking the “Keep It Simple Stupid” format.  We have never been big on props, basically because we don’t have the room to store them in our studio haha, that and the fact that we are not a Baby Specialty Studio (check out www.westmountphotography.com for the best Baby Portraits), but when our clients do bring us their loved ones, we go all out in trying to create those moody, eye catching images, especially in B&W.

A quick shoot before he’s gone.

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Jasmine & Kyle are getting married in 2012 in the beautiful destination of Aruba, but at the moment they are here in Sudbury with the snow, the wind and the cold. :)     Kyle though is heading out to Columbia for work for about 30 to 60 days and will be away from his beautiful fiance, and everyone knows how hard that can be.  So besides using Skype or wracking up a large phone bill we did a quick couples shoot so that Kyle and Jasmine can have something to look at and remember each other while Kyle is away.

It was great to reconnect with Jasmine (we photographed her mothers wedding in 2009) and get her back in front of the camera, and we look forward to capturing images of these two on the beautiful beaches of Aruba in 2012.  Thanks again to the both of you for braving the wind and cold today, we had  great time with you both.

The Original Dog Day Is BACK!

Monday, December 20th, 2010

With such an overwhelming response from this years Dog Day how could we not make this event an annual thing?  So Dog Day is going to be January 29th, 2011, MARK YOUR CALENDARS!  Last year we raised $1000 and 22 bags of dogfood (and 1 bag of cat food) for the Sudbury SPCA and we want to blow that out of the water.   We will be posting more information on the whole event (when to sign up, packages, themes etc) soon so stay tuned to the hodgeblog.

Taylor Made Over.

Friday, November 19th, 2010

I am still going through the hundreds of images I have taken of  Taylor over the last year (with many more sessions to follow as she is one of my 2011( High School Senior Models) and I wish I had time to workflow every single one of them.   Taylor amazes me with the versatility she can create when it comes to our High School Senior Sessions and we have some great ideas for our next upcoming photo shoots.  Stay tuned for more stunning images.

Sit Back Relax & Smell The Roses

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

Or, if there are no roses around just sit back relax and watch sunset.  This was one of the last shots I captured during Chantal & John’s couples session.  The light was fading fast and we passed that “sweet light” moment but we still managed to capture this moment.  Turns out it was one of their favs.

Felix The Kitten

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Last week Sylvie brought in her kitten “Felix” to be photographed as part of our Adopt-A-Pet Program we have with the Local SPCA. Kittens are a lot harder to photograph than dogs (just read the post about our two cats here) but if you let them roam around for awhile and get their bearings you can get them to settle down enough to grab a few great images.  Thanks again Sylvie for taking advantage of the program, it’s just another way Joce and I get to say “thank you” to those who open their hearts and homes to unwanted pets.

A Moment With Ma Mere

Friday, October 8th, 2010

Jennifer new exactly what she wanted when she booked us.  She wanted a non posed, storytelling image of her Ma Mere and her 2 kids and that is exactly what we gave her.  It was as simple as asking Ma Mere to sit on the bench (because I was going to photograph her by herself) and next thing you know Owen & Lindsey climbed up and cuddled in.  I will be honest, I did  put “some” thought into it, I liked how the bench was in a bit of shade, but the sun was still poking through the leaves and skimming across Ma Mere’s hair.  I loved the way that the three of them starting interacting with each other immediately and you can tell that the three of them are very close.  We were all having so much fun with this session (Joce was quickly losing the throwing the leaves battle with the kids) we could have kept on going for hours.    Thanks again Haw family for making us part of this special time in your kids lives (and Ma Mere’s).  Like we talked about today, we look forward to photographing the Haw family next year. :)

Have a great Turkey Weekend. :)

The Mining Maniac – Hodgy Humor

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

While I was on my commercial shoot today a bunch of us where going through my phone looking at the various images I have uploaded to it.  We had a good laugh over my “Mining Maniac” image that I believe I took somewhere in Utah (It was somewhere in the States) years ago.    I remember finishing the actual image we needed for the project and while taking a break I asked “Miner Moe” to make a crazy face like he was playing an Xbox, because the controls he was using was controlling some heavy equipment, it reminded me of a video game.  Anyways, I think that was the birth of my first Hodgy Humor image.
