Friday Joce and I attended the Lasalle Secondary School Prom event to create photos of the students. We had a blast and were really impressed with how organized this event was. I photographed for 3 hours while Joce previewed the images with the students and recorded orders. We LOVE photographing events like this as everyone is excited, full of smiles, and dressed to the nines. The girls dresses were STUNNING (some of them perfect for a “Trash The Prom Dress Session” and most of the guys color coordinated their outfits with their dates.
We kept the posing and lighting very simple with a just a couple of poses to choose from with a slight variation in cropping. I used a 3 light setup (one softbox for main light, background light with grid and a stripdome softbox up and behind the backdrop for a hairlight. Thanks again Lasalle for allowing us create some amazing images of you at your prom. We look forward to your future events.
Sometimes I don’t know what “scenario” I am going to have my subjects in when I complete the final images. Sometimes though, it will come to me when the shutter clicks or when they pose in a certain way. I knew right away that I wanted to add something with musical notes as the pose Stephanie was in reminded me of the begging of a dance performance or recital. The way she was looking down at the floor and way her dress was feathered on either side was a compliment to the way she was standing. After that it all sort of fell into place. We only have a few slots for our Pin-Up Day and it is first come first server. Check out all the detail at Sudbury Pin-Up Perfection Day
Today I had 9 ladies in the studio for a Pin-Up Assignment for Mark Gregorini & Franks Deli. All our ladies were naturals and after a few minutes they are dancing, singing and playing along like this was something they did everyday. This is not the final image for the restaurant, but just something I wanted to work on. Like I mentioned before I have my good friend Jason Landry doing the final poster design and when it’s all said and I will post them here. Thanks again ladies for an amazing day. Like I always say. I LOVE MY LIFE!
So I am here with my friends sitting beside Jillian and on her desktop is the below image. I was like, “that is really nice, who took that?” (and I was serious). She looked at me like I was a total idiot (and sometimes I am). I guess I photographed this last June and I completely forgot (see, she thinks we are good friends, but really we are not), just joking Jillian. Anyways, I thought I would hop on her computer and post this image of her 3 (soon to be 4) children.
Of course, I am not attending, but documenting. Today was another series of images for the Cambrian College Programs. This image was metering the amount of “wind” created by the fan. It was pretty technical, and of course I tuned myself out (like I usually do).
Now that I am back at work, I need to finish up the last few galleries for 2009. Matt is my stepbrother so I can take all the time I want hahaha (just kiddin Matt) Here is a quick grab I captured just as Matt was in mid laugh, totally being Matt! . Many more cool shots to come from the Matt Pack Session.
Joce and I cannot express enough how much we appreciate all of you. We have had our best year yet and our business is growing by leaps and bounds. We feel truly honored to have met, documented and been a part of all of our clients lives. We say it over and over….we have the best jobs in the World. We look forward meeting new clients and form new relationships. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
Here is another image from the “Matt Pack” Session. This was nearing the end, after they found the bag of wigs and accessories. There are more and I will post them when we get back to work (still kinda on holidays). Unlike other “HodgyPoP” sessions, this image was shot with this background and lighting. She was not cutout in PS and pasted into the frame. Lighting is my usual 5 light setup.
Here are two images from our family session today (I will post some more of the family over the holidays) as I have already finished these two images for my latest Smarticle at www.shootsmarter.com. Lambo can do it all, from shake a paw to play dead. We basically wore the poor pooch out and by the end of the session he was like “yaaaa, fetch it yourself.”
