Lovin The Family Clusters.

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

Playing around with some images from one of our recent family shoots.  After receiving several canvas clusters from our lab, I thought I would create one from this session.  Sometimes it’s not about having 1 big image for the wall, but clustering several images to occupy more space.  You can hang multiple prints strategically placed on the wall, or you can cluster them all together on “one” print that occupies the same space.  Soooo many possibilities.  I love showcasing the complete family this way.

If Your Kid Doesn’t Sit Still….

If you kid doesn’t  sit still during the photography session, you have my permission to hold them upside down and shake shake shake. :)   This was her favorite game with dad.

Rockburst Exploding In Sudbury

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

A couple of weeks ago we photographed the  local band “Rockburst” in our downtown core. They needed a group image that they could use for promoting and marketing around town.  We came up with this quick concept based on one of our family portraits we did a few years ago.  I quickly threw this together (rough draft) using their logo’s concept for the image.  I’ll keep you posted on the final edition.

Ramsey Lake Fall Family Portrait

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

The warm sun faded fast over Ramsey Lake while we were photographing the Keenan’s family portrait a few hours ago and standing waist deep in the water didn’t warm things up either.  Luckily this time I remembered to bring my hip waders in case I needed to go into the water……..which I did.  It’s the small things we do to get the proper angle for the shot.  Just like some of our previous family portraits with pets, I was jumping up and down, waving the arms, turkey calls and what not (I really need to videotape this), but in the end we got them to look at the camera.  And also like our other family sessions, we had a blast with the kids.  From throwing leaves in our faces to floating basketballs the Keenan kids got it going on, and we had a great time photographing them.  Whenever we finish photographing a family like this, we get in our cars and say “That’s why we do it!”  Thanks again Lisa & Scott for trusting us with your first family portrait!  It’s very much appreciated.

Maternity On FIRE!

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

We just finished Darcie’s Fire Hot Maternity session a little while ago in the studio.  You might remember Darcy from her Firefighter Calendar Shoot we did last year for the Sudbury Fire Fighters.  Well, in true Firefighter spirit, Darcie wanted something different for her session, so she brought in her bunker gear and her belly and we set fire to the studio to get this shot.  Just joking.  We did however have to make this image the last, because after this, the studio was too smokey to continue.  It really didn’t matter as we got the image that she wanted in the first few shot.  Thanks Darcie for making this Maternity Session something “different”, and HOT!

New Look For A President

Monday, May 30th, 2011

I just finished photographing Sylvia Barnard (The President of Cambrian College)………….again, but this time we decided to go a different route than the previous images we captured.  Darla and the marketing team wanted to show a different side of Sylvia, one that the students could connect  with on a familiar level, sooooooooooooooo, out comes the motorcycle (Sylvia rides a classy BMW and has ridden  10000′s of kilometers).  Yes, even Presidents of Colleges can’t resist the pull of the open road on a motorcycle.  This was just 1 of several different sessions we photographed today, and to be honest with you, Sylvia is an extremely approachable woman, always smiling, and always listening (of course she does have some great stories from her motorcycling adventures).  Thanks again Darla, Sheri & Sylvia.  This was a FUN session!

Of course, what is a visit to Cambrian without getting your feet wet.

Trying to achieve that artsy marternity.

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Since I wasn’t able to blog yesterday I thought I would add two more images from our last maternity session.  The goal for these images was to have a more “artsy”, “moody” feel to them and still keep them classy.  Images like these can be displayed as large wall canvas wall portraits if the client wanted to.  Keeping the images B&W also draws the viewers attention to the subject and not the colored fabric being used.

A Sudbury Baby On The Way.

Friday, May 6th, 2011

Alison, Stan & Mya just left the studio after photographing Alison’s Maternity session.  I think most of the session was Stan and I comparing fishing stories, but in between our discussions we managed to capture some unique images of Alison.  We had a great session with this glowing mom 2 be (second time around) and we look forward to meeting the new addition arrives.

Jovana & Bobby are getting married!

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

We just finished the engagement session for Jovana & Bobby who are getting married next month (WOW! IT’S WEEKS AWAY).  We just met the couple face to face a few weeks earlier to go over the final wedding details and I must say, there was a big change from then and now.  Now don’t get me wrong, they are a great couple, smiling, giggling, you know, “the in love look” on their faces.   The meeting was great.   But Bobby was kinda quiet, and it’s the usual quietness that we see in grooms during consultations like this.

Tonight however……..was different.    We got to see the true side of Bobby.  True Bobby is FUN, and the more fun Bobby had the more fun Jovana had.  The whole time you could see them feed off each others energy.  The whole session was us laughing and being loud!  It was AWESOME and we can’t wait for their wedding next month.

Thanks again to the both of you.  We had a great time during the session.  My stomach muscles still hurt.

Using that May Sun to warm up the downtown background.

And this sums it up when you let them do whatever they want.  I love it!
