The Single Female Portrait.

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Well not that I’m saying she’s “Single” like she’s Single, just that she’s by herself in this portrait.  Recently I had the opportunity to record a Live Webinar for Photography School House on how to photograph a Single Female.  I was amazed that I stretched the  information out for about an hour considering a portrait like this only takes roughly 47 seconds after setup.  It all comes down to good lighting, posing and a really really really really good camera. :)   This session was to create a simple portrait for a client.  Not glamor, not boudoir, just a basic portrait to be used for facebook, business cards, or websites.

Timmins Drive By Shooting

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

I just couldn’t resist myself. :)   There is something about a women in a white dress that sparks my wedding photography radar, even when I am visiting Timmins Ontario.   Check out the video.  A BIG thanks to Jacinthe & Denis.  Congratulations to you both.

Some Words Go A Long Way!

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

There is nothing like getting an email like the one below first thing in the morning.  Thank you Tanya!!!!

“Good Afternoon,

I just wanted to drop a quick line to give you huge kudos!!  I found out about your company through my family’s photographer, Studio G.R. Martin.  I have seen your name pop up on blog posts a few times and decided to check out your website.  Fantastic!!!!  As a lover of photography I enjoy seeing new ways to shoot, and love how you are always thinking outside of the box.

Guy, Julie & Joelle are pros at the crafts of photography, art, innovation, and imagination.  Each of the images that they produce are perfectly thought out, orchestrated and prepared.  I see many of these same qualities in your work.  Each of you know how to put people at ease, make the shoot fun, relaxing, like a day out with friends.  This is why you are all able to capture such great images, and why you all have customers that will come back to you time and again for all of life’s important moments (as well as moments where we want to feel good
about ourselves).

Having decided a few years before our wedding who we would like to have do the photography (Studio G.R. Martin of course!!!), we would occasionally look around at other photographers to check out current trends.  Nobody was ever up to the same level of artistry, mastership and sheer joy that you can find in photography.  And some were charging the same price or more for a significantly lesser quality image. Seeing your images beside those of Studio G.R. Martin, I know that true beauty can only be captured be a select few.  A Master Class.  Other photographers should look to you both for inspiration and to rediscover the heart that is required for stunning, timeless photography!!!  Thanks to you all, I am reminded why I love photography and though I may be an amateur I will continuously look to the Masters for tips on how to improve.  Thank you!!

Should you ever be in this area, I would be honoured to have a session with you or you and the Martin’s!!  Take care, keep up the good work and thank you for capturing life’s perfect moments.”

Cheers,
Tanya Baxter

It’ s funny timing as well, I just started reading “How to win friends and influence people” by Dale Carnegie and I’m on the chapter about showing appreciation to others.  I think this one counts.

Check out our Friends Julie, Guy & Joelle, AMAZING Ottawa Photographers that Tanya was talking about.

DOG DAY 2011

This studio day is dedicated to all our furry friends of the K9 world. Even though Jocelyne and myself do not have a dog, we sure do love the fleabags. Just as we love our cats, we know you LOVE your dogs. So, “Dog Day” was created. Not only are we doing this for you, but we are also doing this for the SPCA. We want to give something back to them, so for each session we will donate $30 to the SPCA annnnnd you have to bring in a bag of Dry Dog Food that we will also bring to the SPCA.

We Miss You!

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Well we do apologize for not posting lately and I will admit I am going through withdrawals. So much that I am posting this post from my phone. We are in the middle of a move (house not studio) and the internet company put the internet on the wrong number so we will not have access until Monday, but I think I will head over to my mommies house tomorrow and borrow her computer to post another amazing wedding.

Missing all my blog peeps

Why am I holding this “Delux High Back Boat Seat”?  Well, it will be a choice that some of you make in the near future.  Some will choose right, some will choose wrong.  You will soon find out. Stay tuned.

More dogs, and it isn’t even Dog Day.

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Here are two images from our family session today (I will post some more of the family over the holidays) as I have already finished these two images  for my latest Smarticle at www.shootsmarter.com.  Lambo can do it all, from shake a paw to play dead.   We basically wore the poor pooch out and by the end of the session he was like “yaaaa, fetch it yourself.”
