Fun times and photography

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

Friday night myself, my cousin John (who is also a photographer) and Joce had the pleasure of photographing the Lasalle Senior Prom at the Caruso Club. The theme (I think) was Music of the ages, and they had bunch of cutouts, and old records and stuff decorating the hall. When it was all done we thought we could take one more capture of the three of us. We had a great system for that evening and everything ran smooth as pie. I will have images to post soon. Also, whenever we get the chance, Joce and I grabbed a new image for the blog (to the right) since we already had all the lighting setup, and another photographer to take the image. Thanks John.

Hodgins Photography 2009 Has Started

Monday, January 5th, 2009

It’s Monday, and tomorrow we official kick off the business season of 2009.  Looking back on the last year has been a real joy.  Wow, did we do alot in the last 12 months.  A new website, more commercial clients, many many kickass weddings, and a wackload of travelin.  I’m looking forward to pushing on and making 2009 the best yet so hold on to your trousers.   This week I am sending out 7  16×20 prints to be entered in the WPPI (Wedding Portrat Photographers International) print competition this Febuary in Las Vegas.  This will be the 4th time going to WPPI and the second time entering (last time I took 3rd place commercial and 3 Accolades of Excellence).  I am also a featured vendor in the tradeshow with my co-founded business www.nobsphotosuccess.com.  Although I’m not a big fan of Las Vegas I am a big fan of hanging out with a great group of photographers and creating some dynamic images in new found locations.  Anyways, here are the prints I am entering.

 ”Bad Acting”

“Hydroman”

“Lollipop Girl”

“One model, one graffiti wall, & one can of hairspray”

“Awaiting the moment”

“Stairway to wedding”

“Serenity Sails”

The Many Faces Of Mat!

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

My stepbrother Mathew was in town for a few days so I took the opportunity to play in the studio.  A quick session before we headed out for supper, but we did get some cool images.

Mat being serious.

Mat not so serious.

More Family Fever

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

More family fever this month.  I just love how everything comes together, the clothing, the triangulation, and the whole family portrait as a whole.  This is the perfect type of image for that 20×30 on the wall.

Family Fever

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Alot of families took advantage of our Highkey Studio Special we had last month, including Amanda & Brent (I posted an image of Amandas daughter Emma in a previous post).  5 people is the perfect amount of subjects to get that “triangulation” look to a family portrait, not to mention having clothes that slightly match will always be less distracting than clothes that are across the board.
