We “quickly” photographed the Piche & Wanka Family this past Friday while we were in North Bay for Hailey & Dan’s Wedding. When we arrived it was pouring rain, cloudy and dark, and we really were not sure what we were going to do. We didn’t want to re-schedule (well I did) as most of us traveled from Sudbury for this, so we opted to goto the location anyways and see if we could make due. We must be blessed, because as soon as we arrived it stopped raining so we quickly arranged this family portrait not caring that the adults were going to have wet Asses for the rest of the shoot. As soon as we were done photographing the kids individually, it started to rain again. Luckily we had the time to create some memorable images for this awesome family.

We just finished creating some great family portraits for the Burton family at a great location near Val Caron. The leaves have already started to turn (more have even dropped) fast and the window for great fall color family portraits is going to be a very very narrow one. We have noticed the increase colors throughout the whole week while on family portrait sessions and tonight was no exception. Paul, Liz, Jack, Emma and Oliver were perfectly dressed for their outdoor family portraits and the white tops just complimented the colors of the background. We love it when a family unit works well together, especially for portraits and the Burtons were on the ball…………even Oliver the best posed dog ever (you will see in future posts).

Today’s blog post is coming from the home of the Roy Family. We just finished the Roy’s family portrait here on their property in French River. I’m a little tired after the session, so I am borrowing Vince’s Computer to write this blog post and share an image with you all. It’s a long drive back to Sudbury, and Joce and I have not eaten yet, so we bribed Vince and Heather to make us supper before we go. It all works out in our benefit of course.
I feel honored to photograph the Roy’s first family photo. We photographed their engagment and their wedding 4 years ago and now they have the beautiful Nessa (along with Roxy) to add to their family. Vince has also been tagging along to some of our weddings as he has started his own wedding videography company Royal Productions this past season.
Well, I smell the food cooking so I better get upstairs and see what’s going on, but first I need to format this harddrive, and I noticed Vince left his facebook account open. Oh people. You should know better.
Here is one quick one from just a few minutes ago.

Wow, this summer has been filled with outdoor family portraits, but I think we will top the summer numbers with this month alone. It’s that time of year again as the kids start school that the family portrait season get’s kicked into high gear. The low amount of rain this summer and the cooler days have already started turning the leaves into the fall colors. If you are thinking that October is going to be the month for Fall Family Photos, you will be surprisingly mistaken. If you are thinking of having a family portrait session with us, I would look into booking now, as we are very rapidly filling up our days.
With my previous post, we were using the Munro family for some commercial images and we had another session with them last night. Just for a few minutes we setup this family portrait for them as a “Thank You” for taking the time and helping my clients out.

Tonight we had the pleasure of photographing the “Munro” family. This wasn’t our typical family session as the images are being used for a local campaign project but we still treated it like one of our regular photographic family adventures. The kids were awesome! The point of this session was to get a portrait where the family was doing what they do best. Be a family. So we headed out to Ramsey lake and basically found things that the family could enjoy doing together. This was one of the last images we captured as we discovered the ducks at the end of the evening, and unfortunately we didn’t have any bread to feed them with (they really didn’t like the rocks that was presented to them), but they still came around to see what was going on.

As my previous post about family portraits, sometimes when you let the family have some fun you can capture some unique moments in their playtime.

Lisa & Rob along with their two daughters came in recently to update their family portraits. We photographed Lisa & Rob’s wedding a few years ago, and since then we have created many wonderful portraits for them. I love have repeat clients and watching how their lives change (for the better) when they start building their future and family together. I will also say it again as I have said it before, sometimes the best photo opportunities are when your clients don’t even know you are taking their picture.

I will miss the way you roll over for your morning belly rubs. I will miss the way you greet me at the door every time I come home. I will miss the way you have to sleep on my lap when I sit down. I will miss the way you come into my office and sit up so that I can pick you up and place you on my knees. I will miss the way you curl up on the couch in the gameroom when I am workingflowing my weddings. I will miss the way you hug up against me when I am sleeping. I will miss the way you come when I call you and I will miss the way you play fetch and bring the paper back to me every time. I enjoyed the last 17 years I had with you. You were a good cat. My first. I will miss you.

The Pappano’s were back with another kickbutt family portrait. It’s been almost two years since their last one (Take a peak here), and this time they brought the Pinkerton’s and McNabb’s to throw into the mix. Joce and I couldn’t believe how the Pappano girls have grown into beautiful young ladies in such a short time and there was no shortage of smiles from each of them during the session. As I said in my earlier posts, we LOVE photographing families!!! It’s so much fun, especially when the family are having a good time throughout the session. We have 4 (FOUR) generations in this family and Jerry (Great Grandmother) has just as much energy as anyone else in this portrait. We have sooooooooooooo many good images to post in the future, and of course I always will post one, but I thought I would post two, just to show you how we wrapped up the session. Thanks again everyone, it’s families like yours that keeps reminding us why we love photography.

Most of you know that Joce and I LOVE photographing families, and our session tonight was no exception. It started out with everyone on the doc and ended up with everyone in the water. This session had “candid” written all over it and Tammy & Jason’s property on Long Lake was the perfect place to take advantage of multiple scenarios. It’s been a few years since their last Family Portrait (Take a Peak Here) and since then they have added a new addition to the family………….little Olivia. Joce and both commented on how much Joy this Angel has brought to this already happy family as it was evident throughout the entire session. I can’t wait to show you some of the candid images we created for this family. Tammy, Jason, Jake, Cale & Olivia, thank you so much for making this session seem like a day at the beach, because that was almost exactly what it turned out to be.
Here is the last shot from the first scenario. We changed it up from our original plan to make it more of a “story telling” image. It worked.
